Kindle Unlimited
Amazon now offers books books books. $9.99/month gets you access to a huge library. Two Humungus thumbs up.
We start with "Wired" by Douglas E. Richards. This was an indy book, which I assume means self published. This book is interesting. Buried in the juvenile dialogue and simplistic writing and blocky plot are some challenging concepts. To wit: are only stupid people religious? Does intelligence override room for religion in humanity. Was Mr. Indifferent - Friederich Nietzsche (I prolly spelled his name wrong but I'm sure he doesn't care) right? Is God dead? Should bioengineers bioengineer? Is the NSA inherently wicked? Are computer hackers inherently good? Is there such a thing as innate goodness? Innate selfishness? Innate wickedness? Are these necessarily mutually exclusive? Is it ok to steal $500M from the Fed, if you use the money for good (good for capital H Humanity as opposed to capital H Humungus)?
The good news is that one could read this book after dubble bouble happy hour and grasp the material, but still can be tricked into thinking about the MEANING of LIFE.
The sequel, "Amped", picks up where "Wired" left off. Page 1.....
