The End is Nigh
‘Smart
clothes’ which contact charity shops or eBay when they are not worn
regularly could be hanging in wardrobes within a few years.
If
ignored
for
a long time, the clothes will automatically contact charity shops
asking to be recycled or offer themselves for auction on eBay.
“Think of the surprise when an owner suddenly receives bids for items they didn’t know were in their wardrobe,” said Mark Brill, senior lecturer in Future Media at Birmingham City.
Think of the surprise when eBay comes to your house for your clothes with your gun in your hands because thankfully you used your gun enough so as not to trigger itself to be auctioned off on eBay due to inactivity.
*****SJW trigger warning*****
The
researchers say overconsumption of clothing is a problem for both the
environment and exploitation of those who produce them.
Clothing
production is highly damaging to the environment, from the
petrochemicals used in synthetics to cotton growing, which uses more
pesticides than any other crop.
Bleaching,
dyeing and finishing adds further pollutants to the environment and
use considerable energy resources.
The
projected has been shortlisted for Network for Innovations in Culture
and Creativity in Europe (N.I.C.E) Award and the researchers are
hoping to have a working prototype by next year.
Isn't
that nice? Well, yes it is. “We're from N.I.C.E. and we're to
help.”
The
team is eventually hoping to incorporate a ‘style matcher’
function, which will encourage greater usage of clothing by making
wardrobe combinations easier to find.
Too
late.....
They only question left is, after we've stopped eating meat and transitioned to the insect diet, will there be enough spaces for all of our nakednesses in the rice paddies?
