Taking it to the streets

Sooo, today I run into the old lady in the building, the one who knows everything going on in the neighborhood since the Vichy regime, and she tells me that the other night, only a few blocks away, some fine upstanding youths burned--not 1, not 2 but 12 (twelve) cars parked in the street.

Seems that these gents were trying to...how can a put this in a sensitive way... uh, take possession of some evil Capitalist-one-percenter's motor scooter (who totally didn't deserve to own one, anyway) but failing to succeed in their effort at healing the societal-economic rift, tipped it--through no fault of their own--and cracked open the gas tank. The volatile liquid, seeking it's own level on the sloping street, ran beneath the row of cars, as volatile liquids will, and so the only reasonable thing to do at that point was to set it ablaze, am I right?

Well, these things happen.

Thirty (30) firefighters were mobilized to combat the resulting inferno, but that's what they're there for, so what's the big deal? That's why they do all that training. That's why we pay their salaries. At least we get to see our tax euros at work.

Since the fine people of Paris, in their wisdom elected the first woman Mayor last night, a feminist and a Socialist (in valiant resistance against the encroaching darkness of right wing expropriations in the rest of the country),  I'm quite sure that she'll quickly open up a meaningful dialogue with the confused and frustrated youths. We can all breath easier now.

Besides, walking is good for your health.
